The final test: if your competition can say the same sentence, it is not yours yet.

If your competition can say the same, it is not yours yet

Most businesses describe what they do: we sell spare parts, we make cakes, we give quality service. That is not a value proposition, because any competitor can say exactly the same sentence without changing a word.

The formula used in the course forces you to be concrete: I help this customer achieve this result, without this problem, thanks to this difference. Four gaps, and each one pulls you out of the generic. Saying "car owners in San Miguel" instead of "everyone" already changes who you speak to and what you advertise.

This tool builds the sentence as you type and reviews it. If it uses words that say nothing, such as quality or the best, it tells you. If your customer is too general, it tells you. If the sentence goes past forty words, it tells you to shorten it, because a proposition you cannot say in one breath is not remembered.

These are notices, not blocks: you can leave the sentence as you like and also write it by hand. The final test is yours: if your competition can say the same sentence, there is work left.
